We can see in this verse how important Godly community is. As Christians we will be attacked by the enemy and face trials of this world but Jesus told us to take heart because He has overcome the world.
We need Godly community around us to help hold us up in trials, just like how Moses had Aaron and Hur to hold up his arms when he grew weary. It's important that the people closest to us, who we let have the most influence over us, be going in the same direction as us so that we won't be led astray.
Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers this can apply to both friendships and romantic relationships. Keeping God in the center of our relationships is how we get a strong "triple braided cord" relationship. A relationship that is blessed by God and not easily broken.
Whether it's friends, family, or a significant other God should be at the center of that relationship if you want it to last. Although we may sometimes be called into seasons of isolation to put our focus on Him, we know that God doesn't want us to be alone.
He said it is not good for man to be alone and Jesus enjoyed close fellowship with his disciples. So remember it's good to enjoy close fellowship with your Godly community and whatever relationships you want to grow to be unbreakable, put God right in the middle of them.
Prayer:
Thank you God for everything you have blessed us with. Please just draw us closer to you and deepen our relationship with you. Help us to keep you first in our lives and to invite you into every relationship we have.
We thank you for the people you have placed in our lives and ask that you would help us to mirror your love to them.
Just fill us with your love and joy so that it overflows to those around us. We thank you for the fellowship we get to have centered around you, God. We thank you for your unfailing love and mercy and we love you. In Jesus name, Amen.
Verse:
A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT
