It is important to have people around you supporting you and lifting you up to God. The circle you keep can affect your life.
If you surround yourself with worldly people, it will be harder for you to stay on the path God has for you. Even if you strive to be different and not follow everything they do, they will still influence you. They will not be supporting you and pushing closer to God.
It is so important that the people around us encourage us and push us closer to God. If the people you are around are actively chasing God, you will want to too. If you are going through something, they can pray for you, encourage you, point you to God and his word.
It is important to have a support system, but the people you have in it are just as important. The wrong influences can lead you astray and the right one can help you grow your relationship with God. Ask God to give you discernment in the relationships you already have and to send you new relationships that will help you grow.
Prayer:
Lord we thank you for community. We thank you for the Godly people you have put into our life. Help us to be a Godly friend, pointing others to you. Give us discernment in our current relationships. Help us to only pursue relationships that help us get closer to you. Let your will be done in our life, in Jesus name we pray Amen.
