Psalms 23 is the most famous psalm in the Bible and for good reason. It views God as a shepherd, a protector, a leader, a comforter, and a provider. It's easy to get caught up in our daily routines and lose sight of what really matters.
Sometimes we look at our lives through a worldly lens and think, "I need money, I need an important job, I need a spouse, I need a nice house and car," but really, all we need is Jesus.
If we gained all our worldly desires but didn't have Him, we would never be satisfied. We would always want more, but Jesus is more than enough to fill the space in our hearts and satisfy our souls. With Him, we are complete, and we can truly be content whether we have a lot or a little.
As long as we keep our eyes on Jesus, we won't desire the things of this world but only more of Him. He provides for all our needs, He protects and watches over us, He leads us on the right paths, He comforts us in our struggles.
Our God is good and just in every way. What more could we desire? What more could our hearts long for? At the end of the day, if you had nothing, none of your belongings, none of your accomplishments, nothing else to call your own, would Jesus alone be enough for you? Would you still be satisfied?
Prayer:
Lord, we thank you for your protection and provision. We thank you that you are always good. Help us to keep our eyes on you, so that you would be all our hearts' desire. You are more than enough, God. You alone sustain us, and you alone are worthy of praise. Please continue to guide us on the path you have for us and help us to be more like you. We thank you for all the blessings you have given us and ask that you would help us to steward them well. In Jesus name, Amen.
