God is not distant. He's not sitting up on His throne, looking down on us in all our struggles, without compassion. He's right here with us, He came down and experienced all the pain and heartbreak of this world.
What kind of king would have an undisputed throne in heaven and angels who sing his praise constantly and still choose to come down to earth to be born into a humble family. To live with no money, no house, nothing to His name. Knowing He would be mocked, beat, and killed for healing and saving people. Jesus did, and even more He forgave the people who hurt him.
Jesus understands the pain that you feel, not only does He know your heart completely He also lived in this world and knows the struggles and strains of daily life. He knows what it's like to feel tired and overwhelmed, He knows what it's like to feel sorrow and pain but to still choose to trust God's plan and keep His hope in the prize that's waiting after this life.
God never asks anything of us that isn't possible and He never gives us anything we can't handle. God is with us everyday through all the little up and downs, the big victories and when we feel completely defeated. God doesn't want to see us hurting. We can see it in the way God saved the people of Israel after every disobedience and Jesus healed so many of the sick while He was on this earth.
Suffering is a part of this fallen world, thanks to our sin, but He has saved us and promised us a great reward if we don't give up and keep fighting the good fight. It's okay to feel sad, it's ok to feel broken and defeated. But don't think God has left you in your times of despair or that He's not good. God is closer than ever in your times of heart break, He carries you through and works everything out for good.
Prayer:
Thank you God that you are always good. We thank you Jesus for paying the price we owed and being the example for us. Please help us to keep our focus on you and stand firm in our faith when hard times come. We thank you that you are always present in the good times and the bad. Please fill us with your peace and joy and be our strength through hard times. We thank you for all your blessings.
In Jesus name, Amen.
Verse:
Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested. Hebrews 2:18 NLT
