Jesus commanded this of us in the sermon on the mount. Give to those who ask, be generous just as God has been generous to you. We should always be willing to give whether it’s our time, our money, our efforts, or something else.
Jesus gave his life for you and one of the best ways to show that you are His is to give your life to serving Him and others. People are naturally selfish, wanting what’s best for themselves. When you are selfless and give without expecting anything in return it sets you apart from the world, people can see the Jesus in you.
Jesus also said in this sermon “You are the light of the world” what better way to shine a light and share His love than to give generously. It may be hard sometimes, sometimes we don’t feel like we can give or we may be scared to give sometimes we might even feel like we’ve given enough. But Jesus gave it all for us on the cross and still he continues to bless us even though we are undeserving. Knowing this, we can be the hands and feet of Jesus and give even when we’re tired, even when we’re scared, even if we think they’re undeserving.
You never know how much difference a generous act can make in someone’s life. So whenever you see the opportunity, give. Give an extra tip, give a compliment, give food, give your time. Whatever you are called to give at any time lean into the Holy Spirit and follow His leading.
Prayer:
God we thank you for your many blessings. We ask that you would help us to be bold in our generosity and how we love others.
Help us to follow your example and follow your leading. We just thank you for being so good to us, we thank you for creating in us a new heart and nourishing the good fruits of the spirit in us.
We ask that you would help us to be more aware of you, God and we thank you for loving us unconditionally. We love you God. In Jesus name, Amen.
Verse:
Give to those who ask, and don’t turn away from those who want to borrow. Matthew 5:42 NLT
