In this verse Jesus tells us not to store up treasures on earth and instead we should store up treasures in heaven. Some of us may have a brand new car or a nice big tv and that’s okay, it’s okay to have some nice things as long as we don’t make them a priority in our lives. Jesus also says in this chapter “Wherever your treasure is, there the desire of your heart will also be.” If we consider these nice things on earth our treasures, then we will desire more things of this earth. But if we know all of our treasures are in heaven, we will desire things of heaven. Our treasures in heaven are not at risk of being destroyed by moths or rust or stolen by thieves, our treasures are secure with our father in heaven.
Prayer:
Thank you God for all the blessings you have given us, thank you for always protecting us and providing for us. Please help us to keep our focus on you and not on the things of this world. Please guide us on the path you have for us and help us to grow closer to you. Thank you for the grace and mercy you give us each day. Please help us to have a deeper understanding of your word and a stronger connection with you. Thank you for being our source of joy and hope. Thank you for the unconditional love you have for us and please help us to spread your love to others. Thank you for the peace and strength you give us, in Jesus name we pray, Amen.
