We are not saved by the amount of works we do for God. Salvation is a gift from God we receive through faith. Not an award we are racing to earn points to get. God does not love us or save us because he wants to use us. God gives us this gift simply because he loves us. As we start to get closer to God and our love for him grows, a desire to do things for him or reach people so they can feel the same love we do will grow. But that is a result of our love for him and our knowledge of his goodness, not because God wants us to earn salvation. As a Christian we know our relationship with God changed our lives, we know we are so much better with him than without him. So why wouldn't we want other people to know the same love and joy we do. We should always serve and honor God but we must remember that we are doing things for God because of our love for him not because we need to earn salvation.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for your many blessings. Thank you for the gift of our salvation that we receive through faith, Lord. We thank you that we don't have to earn it Lord because we could never measure up. We love you Lord help us to honor you and put you first above all things. We surrender to your will and your goodness Lord, in Jesus name we pray Amen.
Verse:
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
