Forgive Others
We must forgive others in order to be forgiven. It can be very hard to forgive people who treat you badly or hurt you. Sometimes, we have to forgive people we don't even feel like deserve our forgiveness. Forgiving someone not only sets them free, but it also sets you free. When we don't forgive, we hold on to anger, sadness, pain, sometimes even hate, and it will weigh you down. When you allow the pain to linger, it can affect your life and behavior. When we fill ourselves with anger and sadness, we can't be the person God needs us to be. We can't live out our full potential. We will turn in to bitter people who aren't sharing God's love with other people because we aren't even allowing ourselves to feel his love. If we expect God to forgive us of our sins, we must also forgive others for their sins toward us. Ask God to help you forgive whoever it is that hurt you, and he will give you strength and peace in the situation.
Prayer:
Father God, we are struggling. We know we have to forgive others for hurting us, but it is hard to let go of the pain. We know you are a merciful God and forgive us for our sins, and we must do the same. We thank you that you show us mercy and love in all situations. We ask that you give us strength and peace in the situation, Lord. We ask that you move in us and help us to let go of the pain and let you take control Lord in Jesus name, we pray Amen.
Scripture:
For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6:14-15 ESV
