These verses describe true love and give us a definition of it. It may seem like a high standard to live up to, and the truth is we won’t always be successful in showing love the way these verses describe it. That’s okay because no one is perfect but we should try our best to follow the example given by Jesus. He always showed this perfect love to everyone he came in contact with. He also called us to love others the way he loves us. This may not always be an easy task but it’s an important one as the love you show others can bring them closer to Jesus. We should be patient with others and slow to anger, we should not be prideful and we should be forgiving of others.
Prayer:
Thank you God for the perfect love you have for us. Please help us to follow your example and be more like you. Thank you for all the blessing you give us and for the grace and mercy you have for us each day. Please help us to be patient and kind please take away all pride and irritability. And help us to be joyful and humble. Please help us to keep our focus on you and grow closer to you. Thank you for protecting us and providing for us. Please guide us on the path you have for us and help us to carry out your will, in Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Scripture:
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand it’s own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT
