Will your house stand, or will it fall? Are you planted on a firm foundation or sand? As Christians we need to be rooted in Christ. We need to fill our minds and our hearts with the word of God. We not only need to memorize His word, but we need to apply it to ourselves and our life. We need to allow it to move in our heart, to change us, and to fill us with a desire to know more.
It is great to know the word but if we don't use it and apply it, it won't mean anything to us, it won't change us and it won't make us want to grow our relationship deeper.
Without God we are weak, we can't make it through this life on our own. We need God's guidance and strength. We need his love, grace, and mercy. When we try to do things in our own strength, we will fail our plans and our ways will crumble, but if we allow God to be our foundation and remain rooted in Him we will stand strong, not because of our own strength but because of His.
God is our rock, our unwavering fortress, He will always remain the same, all powerful, and he will never leave us.
Prayer:
Lord, we thank you for your goodness. We thank you for your word. We ask that you help us to grow in our understanding of your word. Help us to be rooted in you and to not allow anything else to be a part of our foundation but you. Help us to strengthen our relationship with you and grow closer to you so that our foundation can grow even stronger, in Jesus name we pray Amen.
Verse:
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. Matthew 7:24-25 ESV
