All living things need water to survive. Unlike the deer, if we are thirsty we just grab a water bottle or turn on the faucet. When a deer is thirsty it must search for a water source to quench its thirst. God is our source. Everything we have and will ever need comes from God. He supplies our every need and shows us compassion and love. God is all around us, he never leaves, and is always working for our good. If you look for God you will find him, you will see his mercy and goodness in all things. We need to be thirsty for God, not just a turn on the faucet and then turn it off thirsty. Be thirsty as a deer is thirsty, constantly searching for God, longing to be with him in his presence.
Prayer:
Lord, we love you. We are thirsty for your presence God. We want all of you. Whatever you have here for us on this earth we want it. We want to be filled with your word and overflowing with your love, goodness, and mercy. God remove any humanly desire or desire that does not line up with your path for our lives. If it's not from you, we don't want it. God, we desire a deeper relationship with you. We thank you that you have given us the opportunity to be in communion with you Lord, in Jesus name we pray Amen.
As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God.
