Daily Devotion 10-18-23

Faith without works is dead. It is easy to say you have faith and believe in the Lord. But there is a difference in words and actions. If you just say you have faith but don't use it, you don't truly have faith. For example, you can't say you are going to eat, but never actually do it and expect your stomach to be full. So, you can't say you have faith, but never actually use it, and expect to have a true strong faith.
Because we have faith, we do good deeds. Our faith should be producing good things. If it does not, our faith is not alive and well. People know we have faith by our actions. They should be able to see the good things we do and know that only a person with good faith would do these things. If you have faith but don't do anything, how will people know you have faith. We need to do better about practicing our faith in front of others, doing good things because we love God. That way others can see that we truly are children of God not just people who say we are.
Prayer:
Lord we thank you for your goodness. Help us to be more like you each day, showing people love, kindness, joy, compassion, and mercy. We want our actions to point to you and show your love to others. Help us to have a faith that is alive and well. Not just barely hanging on. Fill us with a desire to good and courage to share you with others in Jesus name we pray Amen.
Verse:
So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. ‭‭James‬ ‭2:17‬ ‭ESV‬‬
