Daily Devotion 1-14-24

Do not lie. Our lives should honor God. God doesn't like it when we lie, in fact the scripture says he detests a liar. This means we should always try to live in truth. If we tell someone we are going to do something, we need to keep our word. If something happens, we need to communicate to that person and let them know what is going on. Living for God is not always easy, especially in a world that surrounds us in sin, but it will always be worth it. We won't be in this world, but for a moment, so while we are here, we need to live a life that will give us an eternity in heaven. We need to strive to tell the truth and live a rightous life that honors God. While lying might be easier than telling the truth sometimes, eventually the truth will be known and all that will do is hurt the person you lied to and yourself. We need to be honest not only with ourselves but also with the people we love.
Prayer:
Lord, help us to be honest. Help us to desire to tell the truth. Reveal to us the things we lie about and the bad habits we have formed. We repent of our sinful ways, and we ask that you remove them from our lives. Create a new heart in us and wash us clean. Help us to desire to live a rightous life and to honor you with all that we do in Jesus name we pray Amen.
Scripture:
Live in the truth and keep your promises, and the Lord will keep delighting in you, but he detests a liar.
